Symbolism

Shield

Oriental blue and silver gray are the colors traditionally used by Military Intelligence; blue and black represent night and day vigilance and the unit's covert and overt missions. The knight slaying the dragon highlights the motto and embodies combat readiness, strategy and determination. The rose on the knight's shield is adapted from the branch insignia of Military Intelligence and suggests "sub-rosa" activities.

Crest

The crest is that of the United States Army Reserve.
