Етимологія

Рід отримав наукову назву Halcyon на честь Алкіони з давньогрецького міфу^[17]. За легендою, Алкіона і Кейк були людьми, яких боги перетворили на рибалочок. На честь Кейка був названий рід птахів Рибалочка-крихітка (Ceyx)
