Чикі́та Фре́нсіс Ка́лберсон (англ. Chicita Frances Culberson, при народженні англ. Chicita Frances Forman, 1 листопада 1931, Філадельфія, штат Пенсільванія, США — 5 березня 2023, Дарем, Північна Кароліна, США)[1] - американський ліхенолог.

Освіта

Закінчила бакалаврат Університету Цинциннаті в 1953 році, де також познайомилася зі своїм майбутнім чоловіком Вільямом Луїсом "Біллом" Калберсоном.[2][3] 1954 року здобула ступінь магістра в Університеті Вісконсіна, а 1959 року - ступінь доктора філософії в Дюкському університеті.[2]

Кар'єра

Дослідниця ботаніки в Дюкському університеті, Калберсон вперше застосувала тонкошарову хроматографію для ідентифікації вторинних продуктів життєдіяльності лишайників.[3]

Особисте життя

Калберсон була одружена з колегою-ліхенологом Біллом Калберсоном з 1953 року[10] до його смерті у 2003 році. Калберсон померла 3 березня 2023 року в селищі Кроасдейл, спільноті для людей похилого віку в Даремі, штат Північна Кароліна.

Посади, відзнаки та нагороди

У 1992 році вона стала однією з перших сучасних лауреатів медалі Ахаріуса.[4]

На 9-й конференції Міжнародної асоціації ліхенологів, що відбулася віртуально в Бразилії 4 серпня 2021 року, симпозіум з хімії лишайників був присвячений Калберсон з нагоди її 90-річчя.[5]

Епонімія

У 2000 році ботанік Теодор Есслінгер описав Culbersonia - рід грибів родини Caliciaceae, названий на честь Вільяма Луїса Калберсона та Чикіти Френсіс Калберсон, його "давніх друзів і наставників".[6][7]
